Hurricane Florence crashed into the Carolinas on Friday as a giant, slow-moving storm. The storm stranded residents with floodwaters and swamped parts of many towns, says Reuters. No storm-related deaths or serious injuries were reported in the hours immediately after Florence hit. The center of the hurricane's eye hit near Wrightsville Beach close to Wilmington, North Carolina. North Carolina's governor said Florence was set to cover almost the entire state in several feet of water.
