According to Nielsen cable sports network ESPN rode its coverage of the U.S. Open to a first place finish among all cable networks in primetime viewership last week. BroadcastingCable.com reports that ESPN had an averaged of 2.5 million total viewers in primetime during the week of Sept. 3 to Sept. 9 to end Fox News’ 14-week run at the top of the chart. Open coverage was viewed by more than 1 million viewers, up 9% from last year’s 949,000.
