According to Reuters, China will up the ante in an escalating trade dispute with the Trump administration. In response to another round of tariffs, China's Ministry of Commerce prepared a 25-percent tariff on $16 billion of American imports, including fuel, metals, vehicles, and medical equipment. The tariffs will be imposed on August 23rd, which is the same day the Trump administration plans to tariff an additional $16 billion of Chinese imports. Last month Washington and Beijing imposed tariffs on $34 billion worth of imports, but that figure will likely rise to $50 billion in two weeks.
