According to Deadspin, Ohio State University never contacted Courtney Smith about her ex-husband's abusive behavior. Smith's attorney stated her client is currently involved with two legal matters regarding her ex-husband Zach Smith, who worked as a football coach at the university. Those legal matters include a domestic violence civil protection order, and a case of criminal trespassing. Ohio State recently placed head coach Urban Meyer on paid leave after Zach Smith was fired, when allegations of his spousal abuse become public. Although OSU has not contacted Ms. Smith, she if optimistic that an investigation committee will determine if her allegations were properly reported to university administrators.
