Former New York City Congressman, Guy Molinari, Dies At 89

According to a report by Reuters, on Wednesday, Guy Molinari, who served 9 years as a Republican congressman in Democratic New York, died at the age of 89. Following his service as a congressman, Molinari went on to serve as State Island borough president from 1990 through 2001. Staten Island Republican Chairman Brendan Lantry said on the party’s Facebook page, “Guy was, simply stated, a larger-than-life figure here on the Island and throughout New York. He was a mentor to dozens of young, eager Republicans who have risen up the ranks over the years.” Reuters reportsst that Molinari’s daughter, Susan, succeeded him in Congress in 1990, holding her father's seat for seven years.
