The U.S. government has reopened an investigation into the 1955 killing of black teenager Emmett Till in Mississippi, the AP reports, citing a report from the U.S. Department of Justice. According to Reuters, The report, sent to Congress in March, said the FBI was reopening the probe after receiving “new information” on Emmett’s slaying, which helped spark the U.S. civil rights movement. In August 1995, Till was beaten, shot and mutilated in Money, Mississippi, four days after it was alleged that the black 14-year-old from Chicago had flirted with a white woman.
