According to Gizmodo, authorities in Thailand sedated boys trapped in a cave system before extracting them.
The 12-member soccer team and their coach were trapped within the Tham Luang Nang Non cave complex for over two weeks.
The rescue mission spanned three days, as divers brought the boys out in groups.
A former Thai Navy SEAL stated the boys were asleep or semi-conscious during the rescue mission.
Another official involved in the rescue effort added they were given a mild tranquilizer that helps to control anxiety.
