According to Reuters, the NFL player's union filed a grievance against the league for a policy requiring players to stand for the national anthem.
The NFL Player's Association added that the policy, which requires players to stand for the anthem or remain in the locker room, infringes upon the rights of players.
The union stated that the NFL's governing body instituted the new policy without consulting the Player's Association, which is inconsistent with the league's collective bargaining agreement.
Kneeling protests by NFL players sparked two seasons ago, prompted by a series of police killings involving unarmed black men.
