Billy McFarland, the promoter of the failed Fyre Festival in the Bahamas, leaves federal court after pleading guilty to wire fraud charges, on March 6th, 2018 in New York. Mark Lennihan/AP/REX/Shutterstock Two Fyre Festival attendees were awarded $5 million in damages after suing the failed festival’s co-founder, Billy McFarland, Vice reports. The two plaintiffs, Raleigh, North Carolina residents Seth Crossno and Mark Thompson, filed their lawsuit against McFarland last May. The pair said they spent about $13,000 on VIP packages for the festival, which was billed as a luxury music event in the Bahamas with gourmet food and lavish accommodations.
