According to Reuters, Volkswagen AG will pay owners of diesel-powered vehicles up to $1,000 in Vermont to settle state lawsuits.
Vermont's attorney general stated there will be additional payments related to the state's $6.5 million settlement with VW.
But the state lawsuits sought to resolve allegations of false advertising claims, not emissions standards.
Back in 2016, VW settled a $603 million consumer fraud with US 44 states.
But Vermont and Arizona are the only two states which secured direct restitution payments for customers as a state enforcement action.
