CNN reports that ten Nigerian children were rescued from traffickers trying to smuggle them out of the country to Russia.
Each of the children was in possession of a FIFA Fan ID, the traffickers attempting to exploit the fact that Russia is allowing travelers to enter the country with only a FIFA pass before and during the World Cup.
Five suspects, including a police sergeant, were arrested for allegedly facilitating their travel according to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.
On Saturday the children were intercepted as they tried to board a flight to Moscow in Lagos. The children are currently staying in a shelter for trafficking victims.
