New York City's Transit Authority announced an ambitious plan to retrofit the city's subway system.
According to the MTA, the 'Fast Forward' plan will replace the subway's antiquated signal system, including other repairs and installments to stations and bus routes.
The $37 billion plan will increase the number of buses and routes to around subway stations, while increasing the number of subway cars and access to platforms.
According to the plan, stations will be resdesigned with the addition of elevators.
The city also plans on changing how passengers pay their fares.
But construction will be extensive, requiring stations to close on nights and weekends for a two or three years.
