As Muslims around the world observe Ramadan, Palestinian protesters camped along the Israeli border with Gaza are spending their days fasting and filling sandbags.
Demonstrations along the Gaza-Israeli border have persisted throughout the week, though organized protests began late in March.
At one encampment, a group of dozens of young men filled sandbags in anticipation of people returning to protest sites following Ramadan.
Observing the traditions of Ramadan, including prayer, family visits, and nightly feasts, the crowds seen during the day earlier in the week have receded.
