The US is still hopeful that the summit with North Korea will take place, despite Kim Jong Un's recent threat to back out. North Korea said Wednesday that it might not attend the meeting if Washington continues to insist that it unilaterally give up its nuclear weapons. North Korea also called off high-level talks with South Korea scheduled for Wednesday. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told Fox News, “The president is ready if the meeting takes place. If it doesn’t, we’ll continue the maximum pressure campaign that’s been ongoing.” She added, "[Trump is] going to run this the way he sees fit. We’re 100 percent confident...he’s the best negotiator.”
