Despite speculations to the contrary, Trump adviser Peter Navarro will participate in talks with China.
Navarro had said he wouldn't partake in the high-level trade talks, scheduled to take place this week.
But the White House has insisted that he will meet with the Chinese delegation.
A hardline anti-China negotiator, Navarro has been in the news of late.
Reports says he behaved "erratically and unprofessionally" during a recent trade trip to Beijing.
Navarro also "blew up" at Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin over disagreements on China.
Tensions have increased as Trump imposed tariffs on $50 billion worth of Chinese goods.
This led the Chinese to retaliate with tariffs of their own, which have had quite an impact.
Navarro's strong anti-China views and skepticism of free trade helped form Trump's early economic agenda.
He joined the Trump campaign in 2016 after Jared Kushner came across the economist's book.
The name of the book? "Death By China."
