Walmart is ending a service that let shoppers scan and pay without checkout lanes or cashiers.
"There was low participation for Scan & Go." Walmart spokesman Ragan Dickens
Meanwhile, Amazon is trying its own version called Amazon Go in its cashierless store.
Walmart scrapped the app 4 months after announcing plans to expand it to more than 100 stores.
But the failure of Scan & Go highlights a key challenge for Walmart in its battle with Amazon...
getting Walmart's core customers to adopt new tech and engage digitally.
Walmart customers can still avoid the checkout line at stores, however, if they order goods online, including groceries.
