According to a report by Reuters, two more Palestinian protestors were shot and killed, following the bloodiest day in Gaza in years, with 60 Palestinians killed near the Gaza-Israel border amid demonstrations against the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem. While speaking to CBS News, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu blamed Hamas for inciting violence at the border. Netanyahu said, "They’re pushing civilians – women, children – into the line of fire with a view of getting casualties. We try to minimize casualties. They’re trying to incur casualties in order to put pressure on Israel, which is horrible." However, U.N. human rights spokesman Rupert Colville said that while Israel has a right to defend its borders, the use of lethal force must only be used a last resort, and was not justified by Palestinians approaching the Gaza fence.
