Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross has reportedly been largely sidelined in recent high-stakes trade negotiations between the US and China. According to three people with knowledge of the matter, its the latest signal that President Donald Trump is losing confidence in Ross. Insiders say Trump is regularly leaning on Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and White House trade adviser Peter Navarro during the talks with China. Things got worse for Ross on Monday this week when he was ordered by Trump to reconsider a past decision to ban U.S. companies from doing business with the Chinese state-owned enterprise ZTE for seven years.
