Before the drama surrounding the Oscars asking Kevin Hart to be this host of to 2019 awards show, actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson claims he was the "first choice" for the gig by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. Johnson took to Twitter saying, "I was their first choice to host this year, and my goal was to make it the most fun and entertaining Oscars ever. We all tried hard, but couldn't make it work since I'm shooting 'Jumanji.'" Johnson says that hopefully in the future he can revisit the possibility. CNN reports Johnson's admission comes only days after the Oscars officially announced that the event will go without a host this year. Longtime viewers are eager to see how it turns out, when the 91st Academy Awards takes place Feb. 24.
