It was devastating news for Kim Cattrall this weekend.

She took to Instagram to ask her fans for help in finding her brother, only to tweet a few hours later that he'd been found dead.

The 61-year-old Sex and the City actress was born in Liverpool, England, but her family emigrated to Canada when she was a few months old. She returned to England in her pre-teen years when her grandmother was sick, then moved back to British Columbia at age 16.

Sunday morning, she posted a picture of her brother, Christopher Cattrall, to Instagram and wrote that he'd been missing since Tuesday from his home in Lacombe, Alberta, Canada. His front door was unlocked, and his keys, cell phone and wallet were left behind.

"This is not like Chris. He would never leave his unlocked home without those items nor his seven beloved dogs. Chris is 55 years old, 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, blue eyes, short brown hair, goatee, average build & usually wearing a waist-length hooded winter coat with black gloves, blue jeans, and calf high black winter boots."

Later on Sunday, Cattrall tweeted, "It is with great sadness that myself and my family announce the unexpected passing of our son and brother, Chris Cattrall. At this time we ask for privacy. We want to thank you all on social media for your outpouring of love and support in this trying time."

A media relations representative with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Corporal Chris Warren, explained that Chris Cattrall had been found on his rural property in Blackfalds, Alberta, and that they do not expect foul play.

No more information is available about the disappearance and/or death.
