In an unexpected Facebook post on Friday afternoon, Mulholland's Sports Bar, a Williamsburg staple for the past 11 years, announced that they would be shutting their doors permanently after Sunday night.

"This is the very Last weekend Mulhollands will be open!!!" the post read. "Open till 4 am for the next three nights . Get your wings , have a pint and say good bye .."

The post noted that the closure was "not your normal Brooklyn story" as they have not lost their lease, but it is "just time to say good bye."

Owner Shawn Mulholland has not given a reason for the sudden closure or what comes next, though in replies to comments on Facebook, he noted he would be taking a much-needed vacation.

Established in 2006 and a mainstay on Grand Street through the years, the popular pub will be missed for its fun sports crowds as well as amazing food—and perhaps the best wings in Brooklyn.

There is no word on what the bar will become next, but an unnamed source mentioned that rumors were circulating recently that the location was up for sale. While nothing can possibly live up to the memories that Mully's created for its loyal regulars, we can only hope that the spirit is kept alive in whatever comes next and wish Shawn the best of luck in his future ventures.

Mulholland's will be open Saturday and Sunday night until 4 a.m.—stop by and say goodbye and drink to the memories. Mully's, Grand Street will miss you!
