Why Is Abrams Returning To Star Wars Franchise?

J.J. Abrams has revealed what drew him back to the Star Wars universe to direct Episode IX.
Abrams replaced Colin Trevorrow, who was fired from the job earlier this year.
In a chat with Rolling Stone Abrams said the opportunity was just too good to pass up on.
He admitted that he had no intention of returning to Star Wars.
But he was tempted by "the opportunity ... to finish a story that we had begun with these new characters, to tell the last chapter of their story."
"It felt like there was a chance to do it in a way where we could go beyond, and do better than we did in (Episode) Seven.”
