For their 25th anniversary re-release, R.E.M. has harnessed the power of Dolby Atmos to breathe new life into the legendary 1992 album 'Automatic for the People.' Dolby Atmos is an audio system that's used in movie theaters around the world and slowly it's beginning to enter home entertainment as well. It uses sets of speakers to deliver individual sounds, so that the sound feels like it's moving around you. After a listening session at Dolby headquarters in London, R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe said, "It was breathtaking to hear. My best friend was in the room when we heard it and he had to leave afterwards, he was so moved by the experience. Not only of how it sounded...but he was ecstatic, he didn't stay around after to have a drink after the listening party, he couldn’t.”
