Donald Trump is a liar.

Many of us knew this immediately, but apparently, it has taken at least some citizens of this country until now to finally see it.

Most of us in the LGBT community knew better than to trust him during his campaign and knew that he and his administration would, at the very least, halt the progress we've made, if not reverse it completely, despite the man claiming he would "fight for us."

"Thank you to the LGBT community! I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs," Trump claimed on Twitter just last year, despite the fact that his opponent Hillary Clinton has been a longtime ally of the LGBT community.

And while most of us did not take the bait, a select few very publicly announced their trust in and support for the liar—most notably, of course, Caitlyn Jenner.

Today, Trump further proved that his entire campaign was built on lies when he announced a ban on transgender people serving in the U.S. military.

"After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow ... Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming ... victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you," the president said in a series of tweets on Wednesday morning, without mentioning the names of these alleged "experts."

Almost immediately, the LGBT and Democratic communities went straight to Jenner for a response. And of course, she finally seemed to have changed her tune.

"There are 15,000 patriotic transgender Americans in the US military fighting for all of us. What happened to your promise to fight for them?" she asked Trump in a tweet.

While the president has yet to respond to his most well-known LGBT supporter, I know exactly what to tell her: he lied to your face, and you fell for his charade. His "promise" was never sincere. He was never planning on supporting you or any of us from the moment he stepped into this race. He is only in it for himself and probably doesn't even care about most of his supporters (although they, too, will blindly follow out of sheer stupidity and weak mindedness). Ms. Jenner, you betrayed your community, and now you are seeing exactly what we feared would happen—he is coming for every last one of us, including you.

That being said, for the moment, there seems to be nothing that he can do to transgender people who are actively serving (although I do urge them to quit at the next opportunity they can), and his "ban," while announced on Twitter, most likely has to go through Congress before anything can really change. But that doesn't mean the hatred and discrimination won't be immediate from his minions.

In the meantime, all we can do is continue to make our voices heard. I would personally love to see Trump accepting former Navy SEAL Kristin Beck's invitation to speak with her (Beck is known for being the first openly transgender former Navy SEAL).

"Let's meet face to face and you tell me I'm not worthy," the 20-year veteran said on Wednesday. "Transgender doesn't matter. Do your service."

"Being transgender doesn't affect anyone else," she added. "We are liberty's light. If you can't defend that for everyone that's an American citizen, that's not right."

Trump, however, claims that this is simply a money issue—that it costs the military too much to care for its trans soldiers, when in fact, it is a fraction of the budget. The White House reportedly spends five times as much on Viagra as it would for transgender medical care. The Rand Corp. looked into the cost last year for transgender health care and concluded that there would only be a 0.13 percent increase, or $8.4 million out of $6.2 billion, while the military reportedly spends $41.6 million per year just on Viagra.

Furthermore, even House Republicans were taken by surprise at Trump's announcement. While they were debating on paying for gender reassignment surgery and other medical treatment, Politico notes that they were debating planning on banning transgender troops completely. While they did ask the White House for help, they "weren't expecting — and got no heads up on — Trump's far-reaching directive."

"This is like someone told the White House to light a candle on the table and the WH set the whole table on fire," one senior House Republican aide reportedly said.

Trump's own party is confused by his actions. More of his supporters are finally turning on him. While he is hiding behind lie after lie, we are seeing more and more truths on a daily basis. For the sake of the LGBT community—and for the rest of the country—we must continue to oppose his every move. Hopefully, his days are numbered, and he is picking a fight with the wrong group of people—the LGBT community is fierce, and we are ready to take him down.
