Suicide is at the forefront of many people's minds the past few months.

Two rockers who were great friends both took their own lives. With that, the surviving members of Linkin Park have created a suicide-prevention site. But it's an age-old problem as Anderson Cooper can attest to as he pays tribute to his brothers who took his own life nearly 30 years ago.

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell hanged himself after performing on May 18 in Detroit. His good friend Chester Bennington, the frontman for Linkin Park, felt it deeply and sang "Hallelujah" at his funeral.

Bennington also wrote a letter to his deceased friend, telling him of his sadness upon learning of his death as well as how he'd inspired him with his talent that was "pure and unrivaled. Your voice was joy and pain, anger and forgiveness, love and heartache all wrapped into one."

Last week he was found dead in much the same way, yet another hanging, on what would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday.

And now the surviving members of his band have written their own letter, their first statement after his death.

"Our hearts are broken. The shockwaves of grief and denial are still sweeping through our family as we come to grips with what has happened," they wrote.

While pointing out all the things they'd miss about him, they also wrote, "We're trying to remind ourselves that the demons who took you away from us were always part of the deal. After all, it was the way you sang about those demons that made everyone fall in love with you in the first place."

Additionally, Linkin Park has created a suicide-prevention web page dedicated to Bennington,

The site dictates, "In case you or someone you know needs support, here are some resources." It goes on to list phone numbers and websites to go to for help.

Anderson Cooper's older brother, Carter, took his own life on July 22, 1988, when he was just 23. The CNN host paid tribute to him on Instagram.

"My brother, Carter Cooper. Jan 27, 1965 - July 22, 1988. Hard to believe it has been 29 years. He remains in my heart, golden and true," Cooper captioned a black and white picture of the two of them together when they were young.

Their mother, designer Gloria Vanderbilt, also memorialized her son on Instagram.

"Not a day goes by that I do not think of him. He is close to me because he lives in my mind and heart forever," she wrote. She also has two older sons, Leopold Stokowski and Christopher Stokowski, from her marriage to her second husband.

Carter took his own life by jumping off the terrace of the family's penthouse in Manhattan.
