Taylor Swift and Beyoncé are two of the biggest names in music.

They sell out concerts, music, and merchandise like no other. There are no other musicians like them in the industry. They both have dedicated fan bases (i.e. the "Beyhive" and "Swifties"). They also cherish their privacy in different ways.

Both Taylor and Beyoncé are extremely private people. They take a break from the public when they want to. Taylor Swift is the type of girl who's partaken in perfectly polished paparazzi snaps while it's rare to see Bey out and about.

They're both extremely private on social media. Beyoncé hardly uses her Facebook page or Twitter account. Fans think she has a Snapchat account, but that hasn't been confirmed. Taylor Swift, on the other hand, has been extremely silent on social media. She's been on an extended hiatus since the end of her 1989 World Tour. However, Swifties got more than they bargained for when she embarked on a whirlwind romance with Tom Hiddleston shortly after ending things with Calvin Harris.

Around that same time, Kim Kardashian took to Snapchat to expose Taylor Swift's private phone conversations with Kanye West over his controversial song "Famous." Swift then received backlash for staying silent about the 2016 election and Trump's presidency even though her 1989 era was all about feminism and her model squad. Swift further retreated on social media after she received more backlash and scrutiny. Reports surfaced that she wanted to be more private amid her new relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn.

Beyoncé doesn't have to hide from the paparazzi or social media. She does it when she feels like it. She addressed her marriage, family life, and infidelity on her Lemonade visual album. Jay-Z confirmed the cheating rumors in his new album, 4:44. Back in February, Beyoncé broke the internet when she announced that she was pregnant with twins. And now she shared a photo of herself with her twins.

On Friday, July 14, Beyoncé posted the first photo of her twins on Instagram. That very post received 1.7 million "likes" in just under an hour. Beyoncé's previous post announcing she was pregnant received 8 million "likes" in the first 24 hours. The singer and Jay-Z trademarked the name of their twins, Rumi and Sir Carter. The couple did the same with their first child, Blue Ivy.

Beyoncé's Instagram account is the fifth most-followed account on the social media platform, according to Socialblade.com. Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez make up the top 10 of the most-liked photos on Instagram. Speaking of which, Taylor Swift broke her social media silence to congratulate Selena Gomez on her new song "Fetish." She posted a promo photo of Gomez's new song, featuring rapper Gucci Mane.

"Sultry pop magic from this dreamy almost-birthday-girl," Swift wrote in the caption along with a series of clapping emojis.

Taylor Swift has only used Instagram to praise her fellow peers. She previously showed support for HAIM's new single "Want You Back" and Lorde's new single "Green Light" earlier this year. Swift didn't host her annual Fourth of July party. In addition, Lorde revealed that her friendship with Swift is complicated since she's so famous.

Taylor Swift's star has risen so much since she became a pop star with her 1989 album. The same thing happened to Beyoncé when she released her first-ever visual album, 4. But, Bey picks and chooses when she wants to share on social media. She is so in control of her image that she even hides from the paparazzi. Though Swift is hiding from the spotlight, there are still blurry paparazzi photos of her and her new boyfriend. It makes fans wonder if she misses the spotlight.

She can obviously choose to live her life in hiding. But she likes to remind the public that she's still around. She will do it by sending a gift to a fan, donating to a charity, or having her publicist talk about her new relationship with the media. Swift may be on an extended hiatus and social media break, but when she's back with a new album, she will let you know.

Beyoncé drops new music and goes back into hiding. She doesn't do press tours or interviews. Taylor Swift will use her new album era to talk about herself and whatever else is going on in her life. And we will be hearing about it for years to come, just like with her last album era.
