People have thought many things of Paul McCartney over the years, but the one thing they probably never thought was that he was a violent person.

However, Eddie Vedder admitted recently that the iconic rocker once punched him in the face.

Luckily, it doesn't seem as if it was intentional ... at least not this time.

The Pearl Jam frontman and the former Beatle were sitting in a hotel bar in Seattle when McCartney discussed how he'd punched someone one time. But when he tried to show Vedder how he'd clocked him, he accidentally caught Vedder in the face.

"He hit me. He didn't quite pull back the punch you see," Vedder recalled in an interview on SiriusSM. "As I was listening I was thinking, Paul McCartney just hit me in the face, and it hurt. I think I remember tasting a bit of blood. He got me right on the side ... and he apologized quickly so it wouldn't get in the way of the story."

Not that Vedder was upset by it, not by any means. It was a real moment for him, and as he says, "a fascinating story, a great time in my life actually."

"And I remember it hurt for a few days, and I remember when it went away when the pain subsided, and the swelling went down, I kinda missed it," he added.

What Vedder is also missing, though, is the rest of us want to hear McCartney's story as well. Not his story of accidentally punching the Pearl Jam singer, but his story about the guy he really did mean to hit. We need to learn who pissed off McCartney.
