on Thursday, The Trump administration formally began its attempt to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico. Negotiations will reportedly try to gain better terms for U.S. workers and manufacturers. In a letter to U.S. lawmakers, trade Representative Robert Lighthizer said he prompted a 90-day consultation period with Congress and the American public. This would allow NAFTA talks to start after Aug 16. Renegotiation of NAFTA was a main campaign promise of Donald Trump. The president regularly called the 23-year-old trade pact a "disaster.” He claims it has drained U.S. factories and well-paid manufacturing jobs to Mexico.
