You might wonder why Caitlyn Jenner would spend the time to write her memoir.
After most of her adult life being in the spotlight as an Olympian and reality TV star and going through her transition to female very publicly, it turns out she was saving a few secrets for The Secrets of My Life.
Jenner was widely rumored to be transitioning to a female and confirmed this in a Diane Sawyer interview in 2015. It would be her last interview with the name of Bruce. A few months later she re-introduced herself as Caitlyn. And since that time everyone has asked her if she had gender reassignment surgery or if she was going to.
She confirms in her memoir that she had the surgery early this year."The surgery was a success, and I feel not only wonderful but liberated," she wrote, going on to refer to her decision to have the surgery as "complex."
"The surgery was a success, and I feel not only wonderful but liberated," she wrote, going on to refer to her decision to have the surgery as "complex."
While she previously wasn't commenting on whether or not she did or would undergo the reassignment surgery, she decided to at this time to put an end to everyone asking her about it.
"I am telling you because I believe in candor," she continued. "So all of you can stop staring. You want to know, so now you know. Which is why this is the first time, and the last time, I will ever speak of it."
"I just want to have all the rights parts," Jenner stated. "I am also tired of tucking the damn thing in all the time."
Additionally, she spoke about something else people have long wondered, not connected to her transition but instead to the famous family she married into--the Kardashians. Robert Kardashian Sr. was a good friend and attorney for O.J. Simpson.
Jenner wrote in her memoir that Kardashian once implied that he thought his friend killed ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, despite being part of his defense team.
Back when she was still known as Bruce and married to Kris Jenner, Kardashian's ex, Jenner was riding in a car with Kardashian. It was after Simpson had been acquitted of murder but before he was convicted of manslaughter in a civil trial.
Kardashian allegedly said, "I would've been okay with it if they had gotten him in the first trial."
"The implication was obvious that he believed O.J. was guilty," wrote Jenner.
She believed that some of the motivation behind Kardashian working on Simpson's defense team was as revenge against Kris Jenner who was very close to Brown Simpson.
"I wonder if it was his way of saying to [Kris] what I think she was saying to him when she married me: a big f--- you," Jenner wrote.
Additionally, she wrote that she was never really a fan of Simpson's and found him to be "narcissistic" and "egocentric."
The Secrets of My Life will hit bookshelves on April 25.
