"There is no debt account at NATO," those words coming from German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen on Sunday in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's claim that Germany owes NATO and the United States "vast sums" of money for defense. According to Reuters, one day after meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President Trump took to twitter for a Saturday morning rant, declaring that Germany owes large sums of money to Nato. Trump tweeted, "owes vast sums of money to NATO & the United States must be paid more for the powerful, and very expensive, defense it provides to Germany!"
