Despite all the legal wrangling trying to prevent it, Camille Cosby was finally forced to testify in the defamation lawsuit against her husband Bill Cosby.

Camille, 71, met Bill in her sophomore year as a psychology student when they went on a blind date. They were engaged shortly after and married in 1964. They have four children together: Erika, Erinn, Ensa, and Evin. Their son Ennis was murdered in 1997. Along with being Bill's wife, she also acts as his manager.

Bill Cosby has been named by over 50 women as the man who raped and/or drugged them. Some of these cases date back decades, making them past the statute of limitations, but there is one criminal charge of aggravated indecent assault. Despite that, the comedian and his lawyers have denied these allegations.

Seven of the accusers have grouped together to file a defamation suit against Bill and his lawyer saying that they were defamed and labeled as liars after their stories became public.

Camille has stood by her husband throughout. She was ordered to give testimony in this lawsuit. There were many attempts to stop her from having to do so, but in the end, U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni forced her to comply.

On Monday the comedian's wife gave her deposition at a Marriott hotel. It's believed to be the first time she has testified in these cases over the sexual allegations. With eight lawyers total between the two sides, Camille sat with them for seven hours but only gave about two-and-a-half hours of testimony.

"I got the sense that she didn't want to be there today," said Joseph Cammarata, the lead plaintiff's attorney. The judge did allow her to "refuse to answer deposition questions which call for testimony prohibited by the marital disqualification rule."

The Cosby attorneys stated that Camille "has had no involvement with the facts of allegations underlying this case." They believe it will lead to "an unnecessary media circus and personal security threat that serves no purpose other than to harass and embarrass her."

"She is someone close to him for 50 years," argued Cammarata. He believes her testimony is crucial as it will show Bill's "relationship to her and his relationship to other women." With that accomplished, he feels "finally, we can move forward and vindicate" his clients.

Camille is scheduled to continue her deposition on March 14. Bill's deposition has yet to be scheduled.
