Abel Ferrara's ripped-from-the-headlines drama Welcome to New York has been tapped as the closing night film for the Fantasia International Film Festival. Ferrara's at times comic take on the scandal surrounding ex-IMF boss Dominique Strauss-Khan being arrested for assaulting his New York hotel chambermaid, Nafissatou Diallo, and sparking a court case and media storm, will close out the Canadian genre film festival on August 5. Ferrara will be on hand for the screening of Welcome to New York, which stars Gérard Depardieu and Jacqueline Bisset and had earlier screenings in Cannes.
