About Us

                                                                                                                                             July 14, 2010

Esteemed Reader:

For too long, the media has decided on its own what is and is not important.  To the degree that this is a welcome break from the tyrannies that have plagued humanity for time immemorial and that continue to plague humanity now in places like North Korea and Myanmar, this trend in the media is a positive thing.

However, it is reminiscent of the days when only the bare minimum was expected of the media and of journalists. Today’s society, in the United States and around the world, is fundamentally different than the society that clamored for a media setting its own rules, which usually followed profit margins.

Today’s media, therefore, should be different.

At AllMediaNY.com, we offer that different media.  We offer a media outlet wherein journalists and readers are brought together to share their ideas and to, together, decide on what is newsworthy and what is not.

Decisions on headlines will not be made based on profit margins but rather on genuine relevance.

Furthermore, at AllMediaNY.com, we will provide you with independent journalism of the sort that is seen too infrequently in every society on Earth.  AllMediaNY.com will not be the media outlet that blindly takes its cues from politicians and is spoon-fed its information by those who have a vested interest in the art of deception.  AllMediaNY.com will not stand idly by and allow a president to trick his people into going to war.

Here at AllMediaNY.com, we have a philosophy:  Your world, your interests, your news.

What does that philosophy mean?

Your World:

We recognize that you, our readers, have the right to define your world, to specify the parameters of your world and the issues relevant within it.  We recognize that you are the ones inevitably in control of the situation because in a democratic society, the power lies with the people.

Your Interests:

We recognize that your interests are what matter.  We will not provide you with news that is of no interest or significance to you, and in order to know what you care about, we will ask you regularly by way of public events and opinion polls.

Your News:

This is your world, so you’re calling the shots, and we will do our best to provide what is of interest to you, but we are also giving you the ability to submit your own news stories and your own opinions, which will then be looked over by our professional copy-editors. We will then see to it that your words and your news are published so that all of our readers can see them.

Using this combination of professional journalists, user-generated content, and genuine communication between media and readers, we will work together to create an environment that is the next step in the evolution of modern journalism:  Free media.

The word ‘free’ denotes the fact that our media outlet will be free of outside influences, which in other media outlets can include anything from politicians to lobbyists to publicists, and will provide content chosen, freely, by you, the readers and end-consumers of the information provided by AllMediaNY.com.

Thus, in this letter, I present you not simply with yet another magazine.  Instead, I present you with a social contract, with a promise, with an understanding that, together, we will create a media outlet that relies on a never-before-seen relationship between journalists and readers and which will produce media content free of outside influences and corrupting interests.

This is our goal and I invite you to take part in it, to work with us, to submit your words and ideas to us, and, of course, to read that which we provide for you.

Thank you,
